I built my first health tech company from a ship. (Not quite the Life Aquatic, but close.)
As a seagoing oceanographer I spent 100 days a year at sea. Between research expeditions, living beachside in México, I bootstrapped a mental health app with $25,000 of my own savings.
It reached 500,000 downloads, organically, and grew into Recovery Warriors, a behavioral health media and advocacy network that reached 30M+ sessions and over 4.2M global users.
The growth was fueled by a bet I made early…that blending science and storytelling through audio would educate, motivate, and support people in profound ways.

That was 14 years ago, before anyone in healthcare was paying attention. Inside the podcast I started building series. Structured, intentional, finite. And they consistently outperformed everything else.
